CASE Study #122

I have missed out on a few CASE Study Challenges lately.  The challenge this week is going for two weeks, so I managed to have time to play!  My January Stamp of the Month, Happy Valentine’s has yet to leave my desk.  I am in love with the trio of roses stamp.  I am really enjoying coloring the roses with different mediums.  I even get to practice  my coloring skills in the process!  This stamp is for so much more than just Valentine’s.  So far I have made Valentine’s, Birthday and now a Sympathy card with the stamp set.  Here is my original inspiration card by Windy Robinson.

As many of you know, I am a huge fan of purple….so I kept with the purple floral theme and the basis of her sketch.  I once again fussy cut and layered my roses.  Not sure which is more relaxing, the coloring or the fussy cutting.  Either way, it is my nightime escape!

With my previous posts with this stamp set, you have seen me use alcohol markers and watercolor pencils.  If you are just starting out stamping, you might not yet have collected either of those coloring mediums.  For this card, I colored my roses with just my ink pad and a blending pen!  If you have yet to venture into alcohol markers…you can get close to the same color variations by just using a blending pen and your dye based ink pads.  All you need to do is press your lid into your stamp pad to get some ink on the lid.  You then pick up the color with your blending pen and add to your stamped image.  If you need a darker color, you can pick up ink direct from your ink pad as well.

I kept the inside simple, a few layers to balance out my card and a strip of ribbon along the bottom edge.
