Sneaking
in under the wire for the CASE Study Challenge. The inspiration card for this week is once again by Joy Taylor.
Typewriter images are ever so popular at the moment. My typewriter image had yet to see ink, so this was the perfect time to show it some love! My typewrite paper was blank….I ran it through my printer to add the Hello sentiment to it.
My card is a little out of the box for me. That is what challenges are for, right? I had the hubby pick me up a roll of drywall tape last week and was dying to try some out. This seemed like the perfect card to give it a go. The lovely red mesh on my card is actually drywall tape. This has to be the most economical mesh for crafting. You get 150 FEET for around $4 in your local hardware store. Plus, it is self adhesive, so you don’t even have to add glue! The mesh is available in a variety of colors. I chose white, while you could buy multiple colors….I am thinking one roll will last me at least a year or more! Inking it up was a little bit of trial and error. At first I inked it up with a sponge dauber and my ink pad. The effect was subtle, not quite what I was going for. Then I tried applying reinker directly to the surface, still not the vibrant color I wanted. Then the light bulb went off! Copics to the rescue! I went over the mesh with the Copic marker and the color was brilliant. I would allow a little drying time. (who has time for drying time when you are crafting in the wee hours?) I ended up heat setting mine with my embossing gun. I watched it carefully to make sure I did not end up with a melted mess! The end result is some fabulously colored texture for your card for just pennies! Here is the tape that I started out with-
