Freshly Made Sketches #377

Freshly Made Sketches has a really fun sketch this week!  I have ran numerous ideas through my head on this one….finally settling on the Love Blossoms stamp set!  I really felt this peony image just about fit the sketch totally on it’s on.  I did add in a stitched square of vellum to finish out the elements and ground my thanks sentiment. Here is a look at the original sketch design, and if you hurry you can still play along-

My Love Blossoms stamped image is from the current Love Blossom special, which is only available until the end of March.  The special is based on a card kit, but you can also purchase just the stamp set.  This is a super versatile set, just look at these sentiments-

While the stamp set is designed for a soft watercolor look, I went the opposite direction with a bold Raspberry Pink peony colored with Copics.  Have you tried the new Intense Black ink by Close To My Heart?  This is my new favorite black.  You can do just about everything with it….copics, pencils with gamsol, even watercolors!  It is truly an intense black.  I was previously always a Tuxedo Black Memento fan…but Intense Black has won me over!

My big splash of color is perfect for the Spring Fever Challenge over at The Paper Players!  But, who am I kidding…..I still have months of winter to go!  The only spring flowers I will be seeing is in my craft room…as I am still buried in snow with more snow to come!

Design Tip: I cut my “thanks” die in black foam and black cardstock.  I layered the images together to give it more depth and make it stand out from the bold flowers. Thin Cut dies cut through foam easily!  You could just use the foam image, but I prefer the cardstock texture.
