Freshly Made Sketches #425

I am so excited that Close To My Heart brought back the Wild and Free stamp set, plus they added in the option of Thin Cuts.  I normally get lots of satisfaction from fussy cutting, but it is so nice to have a nice clean die cut edge!  I live in a houseful of boys, so masculine cards are always needed.  Living in Wyoming, the outdoors is truly a lifestyle….though I do attempt to hide out in the craft room as often as possible!  My card is created based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches

You might have to look close, but I do have the three banner type shapes in my image! This card did not work out exactly as planned, but I do like the simplicity of the end result!  My oval image is created with Distress Oxide inks.  I used a mix of  Faded Jeans and Peeled Paint.  I very lightly spritzed with water after blending. I then stamped a texture stamp for the banners in Faded Jeans ink.  Sorta going for the open water feel!  My fish was stamped with Intense Black ink and then colored with Prismacolor pencils.  I blended out the pencils with Gamsol.  The fish was mounted with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.

Being totally honest, this card almost did not make it!  After everything was complete, I only needed to add my sentiment. Hmmm, turned out that was not quite so easy!  I first stamped my sentiment in my go to ink, Intense Black.  The ink on the white cardstock was great, the ink on the Distress Oxides, not so much!  I sorta had a grey/black sentiment going on and was not happy with it!  Thankfully, I was inking my sentiment with my Misti, so the card could be saved!  I reinked the sentiment in Versamark and then applied black embossing powder! Now, I had a sentiment that popped! I added a few black embellishments and called it done!
