Freshly Made Sketches #45

Time
for a new sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  I stayed true to the sketch…but might have veered off a little on the clean part! I kept thinking my card needed a little something.  I could have kept adding ‘somethings”, but figured I had better stop while it still featured a resemblance to “clean”.  Here is the original sketch for you to play along-

As
if my love for burlap was not strong enough, Close To My Heart is releasing burlap ribbon in the Fall/Winter 2012 Idea Book!  Love it!  Was the second thing on my order…right behind the Artiste cartridge!  If you have been hesitant about burlap in the past, you will love this burlap!  No yucky smell, no oily texture.  Soft, clean and full of texture for your projects!  The burlap ribbon comes with a rolled edge.  Here I have cut out leaves, so the rolled strip is not visible.  I did take one of the rolled edges and make the center of my flower though!  No wasted burlap around here!

The layered flower was cut with the Cricut Artiste cartridge and paper from the upcoming Clementine paper packs.  I sponged and rolled the petals to give more dimension to the layers.

I
layered my Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon over a trimmed piece of burlap trim.  My seam binding ribbon was sponged in Twilight ink to match the color scheme.

This
distressing technique is straight out of the Close To My Heart Idea Book.  Want to add text or images to pattern paper or have them stand out more on cardstock?  You can lightly sand off the color to reveal the white core….really makes your saying pop off the page.

I added a coordinating strip of Clementine paper to the inside to finish off my card.

  4. Such a gorgeous card! I didn't even notice the center of the flower at first, how clever. I'm thinking I "need" some of that burlap ribbon!
