Freshly Made Sketches #681

It seems I am woefully behind in mailing out cards! I love creating, but seem to struggle with actually putting the cards in the mail! So, we have yet again another belated birthday card! I went with the sketch design over at Freshly Made Sketches for my card design-

I flipped the sketch upside down to accommodate my cake image. I love this cake image, it is from a Close To My Heart set from 2019, It’s Your Day to Sparkle. Coloring the icing always makes me want a slice of cake! I chose my cake colors from the color challenge at The Paper Players

The cake image was colored with Copic markers and then a bit of shimmer was added with a clear shimmer brush. No card is complete in my craft room without a little bit of bling.

The cake was applied with 3D foam tape to a birthday expressions embossed background panel. A bitty sentiment from Simon Says Stamp was embossed in white to complete the card.

Supply List:

  • S1906 It’s Your Day to Sparkle Stamp Set-Close To My Heart
  • Birthday Word Mix Stamp Set-Simon Says Stamp
  • Graphic Expressions Birthday Embossing Folder-Taylored Expressions
  • Rectangle Stitched Frame-My Favorite Things
  • Versamark Ink Pad
  • Alabaster Embossing Powder-Brutus Monroe
  • Copic Markers
  • Clear Shimmer Brush-Close To My Heart
  • Sugar Cube Cardstock-Taylored Expressions
  • Candy Cardstock-Scrapbook dot com

I have also entered my card in the following challenges:

  3. That cake is terrific and I love it in purple and yellow! The debossed background adds the best interest but still lets the cake shine. I’m in the same boat as you, Allisa, as far as getting cards in the mail. I did add reminders in my calendar this year for sending birthday cards; we’ll see how that goes! Thanks so much for joining in for my color challenge at the Paper Players this week!
