Freshly Made Sketches #73

Jen B has a fun sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  The moment I saw the sketch I knew what I wanted to create!  This is my first attempt at a sunburst card and I love how it turned out.  A great card to brighten someone’s day!  Here is the original sketch for you to design with:

While I had the perfect design in my head, I had to manage to get that onto paper!  I will admit, I first googled sunburst templates to find a cutting pattern.  There are numerous options out there.  In the end, I decided I was making this too complicated.  I free handed my rays with a ruler and cut them out by hand, no template needed.  I sponged the edges to give it the rays a little depth.  I embossed my center circle to add interest to my sun.

All supplies by Close To My Heart, except where noted:

D1476 Card Chatter-Sympathy

X7169B Tommy Paper Packet

1385 White Daisy Cardstock

Z2162 Honey Ink

Z2194 Sky Ink

Tuxedo Black Ink by Memento

Cloud Punches by Fiskars

Fishtail Dies by MFT

Embossing Folder by Sizzix

My saying is actually from a Sympathy stamp set…..I think the saying is great to use for everyday cards.  Here is a look at the complete stamp set.

I have entered my card in the following challenges:

CCEE Stampers-Weather

Hiding in my Craft Room-Super Scraps Saturday

Incy Wincy Designs-Add Texture

Through the Craft Room Door-Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope to see your creation at Freshly Made Sketches, you have until Monday to link up!

  1. Gorgeous card, Allisa! You bring out the best in these papers! The embossing is brilliant, and I adore the layered clouds very much. I still need to work out how to make one of these. Yours is inspiring for sure!
