So many milestones this week…. It has been a year since my craft room was lost in our house fire. The recovery has been slow and brutal to say the least! This card is in part a celebration…my first time to pick up a Copic marker since. Most of my creations have been using die cuts or stencils, as I struggle to rebuild my coloring mediums. Let me just say, coloring soothes my soul. Just by coloring a simple image, I have finally found peace in my new space.

I created my card based on a couple of current challenges. I have always enjoyed combing challenges in my creations. For starters, it gives me a great starting point! My layout is based on the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches and the colors are from The Color Throwdown.

For my controller, the image was stamped in Intense Black ink and then colored with Copics. I cut additional shapes and layered them together for added dimension. The birthday sentiment was layered as well for additional dimension. To create the background image, I made a rough template out of scrap paper and stamped the large background stamp over it to follow the sketch design. A few enamel dots complete the card.

What a super fun birthday card! Thanks for joining us at FMS this week.
Thank you! It was a fun sketch to create with.
First and foremost, I had not heard your terrible news about your house Fire. I am so sorry you went through that. I can’t even pretend to imagine how hard that must be. I hope with each passing day things get a bit more easier. As for your card, I am so happy to see you creating and coloring again. This card is perfect for any gaming lover, young or old. Thanks for playing at Seize the Birthday and best of luck as you continue to move forward.
Thanks so much! A house fire is a life altering event. My life is divided in before the fire and after the fire. Most things can be replaced, a lot can not. Thankfully no human lives were lost, though we did lose numerous fur babies. I am blessed to be able to have a new craft room and able to find peace in creating!
I adore this!!! So bright and fun and perfect for any gamer. I’m very interested in the inside sentiment as well. Unity? Thanks so much for playing with us at Seize the Birthday.
Thank you! The inside sentiment is a mix of stamps. The main inside sentiment is from My Favorite Things, Birthday Sass. I added the Happy Birthday line below, which is from Honeybee Stamps, Birthday Wishes.
