Sympathy cards are not my favorite to create. To make matters worse, I purchased the Love My Dog stamp set some time ago…..to make happy cards! It was the perfect stamp set for a family member…but sadly the stamp never saw ink until a sympathy card was in order. My stamping time has been limited lately, but this card was pushed to the front of the to do list. I recently received the Simon Says Stamp monthly kit and decided to take a quick peak before making my card! The November kit held some treasures that were perfect for my card, though not in the way one would expect. I really went out side of the box for this one. For starters I fell in love with the Metallic Copper envelope in the kit and decided it would be perfect to mail my card off in. Then there was the Tsukineko Delicata Celestial Copper ink cube, which from first appearance appeared to be the perfect color choice for my Dachshund as well. My original vision for this card was white on white. As I inked up the Copper ink, it sadly fell flat on white, but had a lovely shimmer. I solved my dilemma by inking up the Dachshund with Saddle Ink by Close To My Heart and then stamping again over the top with the Copper ink. The end result was a Dachshund in the correct color with the perfect amount of shimmer. Sadly you can not really see the shimmer in the photo, but it reminds me of the dog’s shiny coat. Back to my white on white theory…..it just didn’t work for me. Which bring me to the Copper envelope I had sitting out for my card. The color was PERFECT! I quickly cut up the envelope and added a black card base and was pleased with the result. If only the kit had included more than one envelope, it would have been perfect! I do love the copper color though and think I need to add the color to my stash!

No, sympathy cards are never fun, though you created a very classy and effective project… it's pretty cute, and heartbreaking. Hugs to anyone who needs one… very hard to lose a dog.😢

What a classy and effective project, though, no: sympathy cards are never fun. This is cute… and sad. It's horrible to lose a dog. This card will definitely convey hearfelt thoughts.
