We are back this week with a new challenge at the Krafty Chicks. This week we want to see your All Occasion cards. Sympathy cards might not be exactly what is in mind, but it is an occasion and a card was certainly needed! In all my years of crafting, this might be my first masculine sympathy card. At least masculine was the theme I was going for, though I could not resist adding in a rugged sunflower!
My card is all about the texture. I prefer to keep my masculine cards on the simple side, making up for the simplicity with loads of texture. I started by die cutting a panel of kraft cardstock. I stamped a burlap image over the top and then embossed the panel with a weathered embossing folder. Toffee ink was then sponged onto the panel to give it an aged look. I gave the same sponging treatment to my focal point. Wheat images were stamped behind the sunflower. The sunflower was stamped and die cut with color added with Prismacolor pencils. The sunflower was popped up with foam tape for more dimension. A few strips of burlap twine add to the texture. My card is based on the sketch challenge at Global Design Project. Here is the original sketch design if you would like to play along-

Allisa: Thanks for linking to FarmQuest’s Anything Farm Country Goes theme! You’ve given this sympathy card burlap, jute rough texture look and color. The wheat and sunflower add to that Kansas/Great Plains rural country vibe. Sorry that you’ve had to make a sympathy card this week, yet it will provide comforting thought to the recipient. Thanks for taking time to share from your he-art (heart). –Becca/owner FQCB
