Meet Aurora!

Oh my goodness, I am so in love!  Have you seen the new Close To My Heart catalog?  If not, you are missing out!  My first love in the catalog is a complete collection, Aurora. It includes papers, stamps, Thin Cuts AND a Cricut Collection! The new paper collections have a coordinating mini Cricut Collection.  The images go perfect with the papers and the stamps!  Here is a look at the Aurora Cricut Collection

The collections are small but contain mighty images!  The super fun collection is only $9.99!  From the moment I saw the collection, I knew I wanted to create a mountain scene.  I created my mountain scene in card size 4.25 x 5.50″, but you could easily create 12×12 scrapbook pages or even larger home decor items!

The beauty of the Cricut is you can cut your images to whatever size you would like. When I am creating a card with Cricut images, I start by inserting a rectangle shape in the size of the card I am creating.  I then drag and resize my images to the size needed.  You can also play around with color schemes to see what works best for you.  I cut the mountains, trees and moose with the Aurora Collection.  Close To My Heart cardstock is two toned, with a lighter shade on the reverse side.  My trees are cut using both sides of Evergreen for a varied look. I mounted my images onto a gorgeous piece of Aurora paper.  I added in a few more stars than the original design with white paint. While I had the white paint out, I also added shimmer details to the snow on the mountains.

I used Sage cardstock stamped with the Build A Plaid stamp set to mimic grass on the bottom.  After adhering my mountains and trees, I framed the scene with the Stitched Rectangle Frame Thin Cuts.  To insure that my sentiment did not get lost in the background, I stamped my sentiment in Sapphire pigment ink and clear embossed.  The moose was mounted last with 3-D foam tape to bring him to the forefront, letting him walk out of the frame.  It was a super fun card to make, and came together quickly.
