Merry Monday #36

I am honored to be the guest designer at Merry Monday this week.  Joining in the challenges at Merry Monday has helped me tremendously in getting a head start on making Christmas cards.  When I first saw the sketch, I instantly thought of adding a snowflake or an ornament to the sketch.  But, I seem to always be putting a snowflake or ornament as my focal point.  I decided to mix things up and add a fancy bow for my shape.  I flipped the sketch in the process.  Here is the original sketch design by Lesley-

My Joy sentiment is from the Pear & Partridge Complements pack.  I added the Wishing you sentiment to the top, which is from the December Stamp of the Month.  My bow is lots of layers tied together with a button.  The best advice I have on designing bows….tie it all together and then work on arranging your loops.  Your bow comes together much easier this way.  Trust me….ribbon can take a lot of abuse.  Twist and pull until you have the design you are seeking.

Design Tip-When you add lots of layers or embellishments to the front of your card….add some extra layers to the inside as well.  This will help balance your card so that it is not top heavy. I added an additional layer of cardstock to the inside of my card to balance the weight from my embellishments.

I have entered my card in the following challenges:

ABC Christmas Challenge-12 Days of Christmas (2 Turtle Doves)

Amusing Challenges-Twine

Cute Card Thursday-Lots of Ribbon

Sentimental Sundays-Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope to see your creation at Merry Monday!
