Nature’s Wish Moose Birthday

My crafting time and crafting supplies have been very limited lately. Long story short in my roller coaster life, I have become separated from my crafting supplies. Crafting has kept me sane over the years, so I am slowly rebuilding.  For those of you who have known me for some time….you know I could not live without burlap for long! I have been known to add burlap to any project…but it is the perfect texture for a masculine card. In the past I was the crafter with every color of cardstock and coordinating ink…..now not so much!  So, you will be seeing a lot of improvising as I rebuild my craft room. My card was created with one of my favorite stamp sets from Close to My Heart, D1703 Nature’s Wish.  This set features great outdoor life images and a selection of versatile sentiments.  Here is a look at the complete set-

My card is based on the sketch challenge this week at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

I wanted my card to have an earthy feel to it.  While the burlap was a great start….I only had bright pattern and White Daisy cardstock.  Watercolors to the rescue.  I simply diluted my watercolors and washed the White Daisy cardstock and the pattern paper with watercolors to remove the harsh white finish.  I love that my white panel has an almost wood look to it now.  I stamped my images and distressed the edges of all layers with Cocoa pigment ink.  I love the end result, though it did take some a little outside of the box thinking to accomplish it.
