Poppies Sympathy

I am still on my learning curve with the Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers.  I love the bright vivid colors, so I am determined to master them!  I struggle with watercoloring……mostly because I am an in the lines type. This card was actually take 2.  I had colored in my poppies on take 1….and then attempted to add in the color wash on the background. Did not go as planned….and I could not handle the bleed of the poppy colors into my background.  On the second attempt….I colorwashed my background first.  I let the background dry and then went back in and colored the flowers.  The first panel did not go to waste though….I cut out the flowers and popped them up onto the second panel for added dimension.  I love the effect.  Here is a close up of the dimension-

The added dimension adds so much to the card.  Had it not been for my coloring issues on the first panel, I am not certain I would have taken the time to color the poppies twice.

  5. You can't beat the colour red against a white background, it just jumps off the card. And your colouring of these flowers is just incredible, very detailed. Such a fabulous CAS card, I'm so glad you shared it with us at The Flower Challenge!
