Ribbon Christmas Wreath

I stepped outside of my comfort zone this weekend and learned a new technique! I was cruisin through blogland this evening to see which challenges I wanted to enter this week.  The color challenge at Dynamic Duos was tops on my list.  The colors this week are Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand.  I went with Cranberry and Whisper by Close To My Heart for my colors.  If you have followed me for any length of time, you know it is impossible for  me to enter only one challenge!  I then came across the technique challenge at Just Us Girls.  I was so intrigued by the ribbon wreaths, I decided to give them a go!  If you want to make your own, you can view a video here.  The best advice I have is to not put too much thought into it.  If you overthink the whole thing…you will just get frustrated.  Just stick with the left, right loop thing and you will be good to go!

I added a layer to the inside of my card to add stability to the front and kept it simple.

All supplies by Close To My Heart, except where noted:

D1520 Ornamental Cheer

G1043 Pear & Partridge WOTG Kit

X7157B Dakota Paper Pack

1272 Cranberry Cardstock

Z2116Cranberry Ink

Real Red Ribbon-SU

Z1760 Burlap Ribbon

Z1369 Red Button Assortment

I have also entered my card in the following challenges:

2 Sisters-Use your favorite Christmas Stamps (The Merry Christmas stamp is my favorite one this year!)

Christmas Stampin All Year Long-Anything Goes

Southern Girls-Christmas Projects

  1. Your wreath is fabulous Allisa! Love how you combined the two challenges. The wood grain BG is perfect for your lovely red wreath and I love the bow at the top. So glad you took the plunge to try the wreath 🙂 Thank you for joining us at Just Us Girls this week!

  2. I love it!! I tried the technique this week too for the JUGS challenge and it was quite fun! Love the red against that wood background. And the twine on the bow is a great touch. Thanks for playing with CSAYL.
