My love of cardmaking is being able to create cards catering to the recipient. I find it much easier to create a card vs trying to find a fitting store bought card. My style normally leans to clean and layered designs. I dabbled a little bit in mixed media to add some fun elements to the design.
I recently acquired the Rust & Revs paper collection by 49 & Market. The fun grungy plaids were perfect for a masculine card. The focal point of my card is the classic mustang image from Unity Stamps. I started my card by stamping the image with Intense Black ink onto Colonial White cardstock. I then added rub-ons from the Rust & Revs collection. As previously mentioned, my usually style is clean and layered. But the clean look was just not working for the completed image. I then added in some Distress Ink splatters to fill in my “clean” spots. In hindsight, I should have started with adding the distress ink to the panel and then added the rub-ons. I felt the card needed more dimension, so I stamped an additional mustang image and layered it over the original image. The license plate was changed out with an epoxy design and additional epoxy elements were added to complete the card.
I carried over the design to the inside of the card, by adding additional rub-ons to the inside panel. I honestly have not used rub-ons in over twenty years…..but I absolutely love these! So easy to use and I love the easy layered designs.
