The Paper Players #485

Time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!  LeAnne is hosting a theme challenge this week, A Day at the Zoo.  I might have stretched the limits ever so slightly with my card!  I am sure for most, a buffalo is not your first pick for a day at the zoo.  I am fortunate enough to live where these majestic animals can almost run free.  But, in other parts of the country, their existence is only in zoos.  So, they do exist in a zoo setting!

My card is based on the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch

This sketch was so me….I am a huge fan of layers!  I went with a mix of rustic wood tones for my layers.  My buffalo is from the Wild and Free stamp set.  This set is available with or without Thin Cut dies.  I was ecstatic when Close To My Heart came out with matching dies!  Here is a look at the complete set-

My buffalo was stamped in Intense Black ink and then colored with Prismacolor pencils.  I blended out the colors with Gamsol.  A bit of burlap twine finishes off the card.  I seriously can not create a rustic card without adding in a touch of burlap in some form!

  1. Hi Allisa! This is such a great image and a wonderful card! You have done such a perfect job casing the sketch and you're right…you are lucky to live in a place where these fantastic animals can almost live freely! I have to go to the North Carolina Zooto see one up close and personal! Thanks so much for sharing this card with us at the Alphabet Challenge!
