The Paper Players Sketch Challenge #426

I inked up some NEW stamps to play along with The Paper Players Sketch Challenge this week.  My craft room has been neglected lately, but the excitement of new stamps had me brushing off the dust!  I thought the sketch at The Paper Players would be a perfect start for inking up the new Budding Peony stamps by Close To My Heart. I will admit, I am not huge into flower stamps…they are one of the smallest categories of stamps that I have.  BUT, this set was calling my name!  It was love at first sight…  I really struggled with if I needed the dies.  I caved and purchased the set.  I am so glad that I decided to get the dies, I just love the crisp clean embossed edge.  You have the option of purchasing just the stamp set or the stamp/thin cuts bundle.  Here is a peak at the complete set-

While the Peony set has some great sentiments, I went with the January Stamp of the Month for my “thanks” sentiment.  The bold font seemed to stand out better against the floral backdrop. Card Captions is the January Stamp of the Month.  It is a set of 26 stamps, only available in January.  The set is available for only $5 with a qualifying purchase.

My card is a mix of really new and  really old products. I inked up my
new stamps with the new Intense Black ink and colored my image with
Prismacolor pencils, then blended with Gamsol.  For a little bling, I
applied a shimmer brush over the top of my flowers.  I added a subtle
woodgrain texture with Ballerina Pink ink for my background.  My flowers
and sentiments are popped up for added depth.  The card has way more
going on than the photo shows! Here is the original sketch, so you can play along.
