Twofer Challenge #39

I was excited to see the challenge at Twofer Card Challenge. The theme is sunshine this month. It is the perfect challenge for the new Sunburst Background die by Close To My Heart. The idea of the challenge is to create two different projects for two different occasions with the same products. My focus is the sunburst die. The yellow card is a card of encouragement and the rainbow card is a thank you card.

I created what I would call a traditional and a not so traditional card with the sunburst background die. The more traditional card was created with Sunny Yellow cardstock and the coordinating gingham print. I have a huge fondness for gingham. Way back in the day, Close To My Heart made it in all colors. I have quite the stash saved! It was the perfect pairing for the newly released Sunburst die.

The background die makes your card creations super simple! For this one, I cut Sunny Yellow twice and my gingham once. I layered two of the yellow frames together and then inlayed the single rays inside the frame. The double layer frame gives the card slightly more dimension. My sentiment is from the new Spot on Sentiments, which works perfectly with the sun! I stamped my sentiment with Sunny Yellow ink onto a white stitched circle die cut and adhered it to the center of my sun.

For my next card, I wanted a rainbow theme……but I was on a time constraint and did not have time cut out a rainbow of colors. I totally cheated with this card and used a pattern paper that mimics the look of alcohol inks! The papers are gorgeous and take the guess work out of your finished project. I was still able to achieve the rainbow look with only one die cut!

The possibilities are endless on the different looks you can achieve, just by changing out your sentiment and background colors. The die seriously does all the hard work for you! For this card, I stamped my sentiment in Intense Black ink and adhered it to the center of the sun.

  1. Great cards! Yes, I recognized that old CTMH Gingham paper–I have quite the stash of it as well. I love the other background paper on the black starburst card–it is so dramatic. Thanks for inspiring me today!
