VersaMark vs CTMH Pigment Ink

I finished up my Golden Moments Card Kit this weekend! I first introduced them here.  I decided to step it up yet another notch, by adding some bling!  You can easily create the ten cards included in this kit in minutes if you put them together as is.  I completed my blinged out ten in about an hour.  That is so a record for me.  I think I sometimes spend an hour just picking out colors for my project.  I love the creamy Bashful paired with Gold.  While completing my ten cards, I was doing a bit of embossing.  The embossed sentiments go so well with the gold design.  I have been a crafter for over twenty years and VersaMark has always been my go to for heat embossing. For this project, I just felt like the finer lined sentiments were lacking when embossed, so I decided to do a little comparison.

I often emboss with colored pigment inks by Close To My Heart with clear embossing powder to get a clean colorful raised image.  But, if I am embossing metallics or white….I reach for my VersaMark pad.  A matter of habit, I suppose.  As of this weekend, that habit is broken!  I was not happy with the coverage I was getting on the thinner font and happened to have a Bashful pigment ink pad on my desk.  I inked up my sentiment with the pigment ink pad and look at the lovely results!  The pigment ink gives a much smoother embossed image.  Both ink pads are relatively new….I just feel the CTMH pigment ink pad holds the embossing powder better, resulting in a smoother finished image.  The pigment ink pads are normally sold in color sets of ten…but if you just wanted to try one out…you can purchase the Bashful pad as a single paid for $2.95.

I finished out the inside with more embossing and gold glitter!  While I changed up the card kit design, nothing went to waste.  The original cards that I cut in half, became the front and inside panel.  The leftover strips of gold glitter paper, became added bling for the inside of my cards.  This was a super clean project of ten cards, completed in about an hour!

  1. What a lovely, feminine card, Allisa! The colours are so soft and subtle but that dazzle of gold really gives it a lift. Love the comparison you did between the pigment ink and versamark for heat embossing. There is definitely a difference between sentiments. Love the inside of the card, too. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
