I love using negative cut outs to create cards! It is super simple and you can get two cards in one. The key is to strategically make your cuts. When using my Cricut, I start out by creating a card sized rectangle and then adding my cuts to allow for creating two cards in one.
My Rocking Horse is from the Cricut Joys of the Season cartridge. While, this is a Christmas themed collection, you can easily re purpose the images. After cutting the image, I added my pink polka dot based and then popped up the panel with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.
