So excited to be chosen as a Guest Designer over at the Cut It Up Challenge. We are featuring a masculine challenge this week. So, show us your masculine designs with die cuts! I chose one of my favorite die cut sets for masculine cards, Wild and Free. While this set is retired, there are still a few sets available. As an added bonus, this set is part of the Stamp-tacular Sale! Which means you can pick them up for a great price! Here is a look at the complete set-
When it comes to masculine cards, I am all about the texture. Nothing speaks masculine to me like woodgrain and burlap. I decided to combine the two on this creation and add a little actual wood as well! My wood paper is one of twelve designs that is featured in the Wood Grain Paper Packet. This paper is great for creating backgrounds for your scrapbook pages, home decor items and of course, cards! Here is a look at the complete set-
To create my card, I started with a piece of Cinnamon cardstock. An arrow pattern was randomly stamped with coordinating Cinnamon ink. This piece was matted with Espresso cardstock. A piece of woodgrain paper was applied in the middle, with a strip of burlap cardstock going across the center. A matted circle in the center sets a background for the buffalo image. The buffalo was stamped in Intense Black ink onto White Daisy cardstock. Color was added with Prismacolor pencils, blended out with Gamsol. The buffalo was mounted with 3-D foam tape for added dimension.
To create my sentiment, I started with a strip of White Daisy cardstock. The sentiment was inked with Versamark ink and embossed in clear powder. I then sponged on Espresso ink, wiping off any excess from the embossed area. I love how the finished sentiment has the look of wood grain, yet I still have the bright white sentiment. A few wood arrows finish off the card.
